When I first started teaching mobile app development, I thought my job was simply to help students learn Flutter and build mobile apps.
I expected to spend my days explaining Dart, widgets, APIs, state management, and debugging code.
What I didn’t expect was how much teaching would change me.
Every class has helped me become a better developer, a better communicator, and a more patient person. Looking back, becoming a Flutter tutor has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
At TechVerve Academy in Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria, we’ve trained students from different backgrounds, and every new class reminds me that everyone starts somewhere.
It’s easy to forget what it felt like to write your first line of code.
Today, I build mobile applications professionally, but I still remember struggling with variables, loops, and debugging simple errors.
Now I see those same challenges in my students.
Some understand concepts quickly.
Others need more time.
Some ask the same question several times.
Instead of becoming frustrated, those moments remind me of my own journey.
Teaching has helped me become more patient because I know confidence grows with practice.
One lesson I’ve learned is simple:
People learn programming by building projects.
Reading documentation helps.
Watching tutorials helps.
But nothing compares to creating a real mobile app yourself.
That’s why our students don’t spend weeks watching videos.
They build real applications from the beginning.
They learn how to:
Every project helps build confidence.
Teaching forces you to explain difficult ideas in simple ways.
It teaches patience.
It improves communication.
It reminds you that every experienced developer was once a beginner.
The skills I’ve gained from teaching have helped me become a better software engineer and a better team leader.
The best part of teaching isn’t writing code.
It’s watching someone who once believed programming was impossible confidently present an app they built themselves.
Those moments remind me why I continue teaching.
Helping someone else succeed is one of the most rewarding experiences a developer can have.
